(Pictures of Camp Sites)
IIn 1969 Arrowmont was written up in Woman's Day magazine for its program.
Our campers actually learned how to camp and take care of themselves in the woods and on the Appalachian Trail. Just a few of the things they learned:
• How to pack backpacks to carry less weight
• How to walk and hike to reduce steps
• How to gauge distance using their stride
• How to run a map and compass course
Some pretty wealthy parents sent their children to our youth camp. Many even had their maids teach their children how to make a bed since they would have to keep their cabins clean and neat.
These parents wanted their children to know the value of and appreciate what was being done for them. Things like scrubbing clothes, setting tables, preparing food and cleaning up become a source of pride for a job well done.
Many parents later commented on the new appreciation their children demonstrated for them.
Retirement has caught up with me! So.I don't Direct a Camp Program any longer.
You may bring your own tent and choose a site near the bathhouse or some very secluded site throughout the 200 acre Arrowmont property such as in the valley near our small lake. No hookups are provided.
Map of Arrowmont
There Are Some Great Primitive Tent Camp Sites To Choose From:
- Valley by the Lake, about a 15-20 minute hike from the facilities
- In the middle of the Farm near the Facilities (Sean's site or the Fort's site)- Mid Mountain
- Mountain Top, also about a 15-20 minute hike to the facilities
Nearby is beautiful Lake Glenville, the highest lake east of the Mississippi River, for swimming and bass fishing, plus, across the road from Lake Glenville is a great hike to High Falls. It's about a 2-2 1/2 hour round trip hike to the falls below the dam of the lake. Really magnificent! If you didn't know better, you might think you were in Switzerland. AND its only a mile away!

Pets are only allowed at the Primitive Tent Camping sites, not in any of the vacation cabins.

15% Discount off any trail you choose when you camp at Arrowmont!
**CREDIT CARD VERIFICATION PROCESS:
We want to clarify one thing about the credit card process. When you provide your credit card information, we need to verify it through a process called "Pre-authorization".
Sometimes this appears to be an actual charge, especially when viewed on your cell phone. But it is not. It is simply guaranteeing the credit card information provided is accurate and the full amount of the rental funds are actually available. NO funds are transferred to Arrowmont Stables & Cabins at this time.
If you are using a Debit Card this may cause overcharge fees during the verification process.
If you have any other questions about the pre-authorization, just call us.
