Tent Sites Available From June 1 to October 15
The Shower Facilities are located in the middle of the farm inside the Fort. The best spots for proximity to the facilities are around the Fort. You may also choose to be in the valley around the lake or at the top of the mountain in the open meadow. But these are the most remote sites.
You provide the Tent and camping gear along with your own sleeping bag, linens, towels, and toiletries.
Next, choose a site near the bathhouse or some very secluded site throughout the 200-acre Arrowmont property such as in the valley near our small lake. No hookups are provided. See Map of Arrowmont Above.
There Are Some Great Primitive Tent Camp Sites To Choose From:
- Valley by the Lake, about a 15-20 minute hike from the facilities
- In the middle of the Farm near the Facilities (Sean's site or the Fort's site)- Mid Mountain
- Mountain Top, also about a 15-20 minute hike to the facilities
Check out the map above for an idea of where things are located.
We provide you with a beautiful site created by God and nature. We've tried not to ruin it, You get a great natural site with a fire ring and picnic table. You also have a Central Bath House at THE FORT for your personal needs located in the middle of the horse farm's 200 acres.
If you have to be 10 minutes from a "7-11" and tents everywhere (basically covered with people), then this isn't for you. But if you love nature, hiking, and horses roaming freely after work, then you've come to the right place.
There is a bumpy, gravel road about 1 1/2 miles long for access to your tent site... or if you're adventurous, you could even hike anywhere on the 200 acres and set up your tent. Just keep in mind where the Bath House is located.
Arrowmont is a 200-acre working horse farm located on top of Cullowhee Mountain. We best serve families who are looking to get away from the stress of city life and want a remote, quiet place to relax... and the horses add their own special charms. There is a bumpy gravel road that services the various cabins on the farm.
The farm ranges in elevation from 4200 feet at the top of the mountain down to 3400 feet in our picturesque valley.
Nearby is beautiful Lake Glenville, the highest lake east of the Mississippi River, for swimming and bass fishing, plus, across the road from Lake Glenville is a great hike to High Falls. It's about a 2-2 1/2 hour round trip hike to the falls below the dam of the lake. Really magnificent!
If you didn't know better, you might think you were in Switzerland. AND its only a mile away!
Town is about 30 minutes away so you might want to get your groceries in town before climbing the mountain to Arrowmont and your cabin.

"We had a wonderful time today. Everyone was so friendly an welcoming. Our tour guide he was very knowledgeable and attentive. It was a peaceful ride thru nature. My horse was Whiskey was a great ride. If you are in the area you must stop happy trails. Nancy, thank you for the eye drops they worked wonders."
"I stumbled upon this stable while searching for a trail ride establishment in December. We were staying in Bryson City and drove the hour to the stables. The mountain road leaving up to the stables is very twisty and almost makes you contemplate your choice but I promise you it’s well worth it! The horses are very calm and gentle, good safety instructions are provided and the trails are beautiful, even in December! I haven’t ridden in almost twenty years and it was like riding a bike. My nine year old who rides regularly handled the trails like a pro. I highly recommend them!"
