The Flame/Fern Combo Trail Description

The FLAME AZALEA-FERN FOREST TRAIL Combines the Majestic Flame Azalea and the lush Fern Forest for a really enjoyable trail ride for everyone. 
 
Follow your guide on the Flame Azalea Trail into a hardwood forest of blooming azaleas in late spring, dogwoods are the first to bloom in spring. 
 
Then you enter an enchanting white pine forest just like in the Star Wars movie! 
 
On both sides of the open meadow you're treated to mountain views.  But on your right, you’re treated to sweeping majestic 30-mile views out to the Blue Ridge Parkway. Also be on the lookout for wildlife, including hawks soaring above.
 
You will think you are in the legendary movie "Sound of Music". This is an amazing experience. 
 
Descending from the top you travel through an old youth camp. Then, you enter an enchanting lush, deep wood, fern forest. It meanders through the dense forest before returning to the stables. 
 
This is a 200 acre working horse farm.
 
Meet your guide at Arrowmont Stables and Cabins on the northwest end of Lake Glenville about a mile from the lake. It's only a 20 minute drive from Cashiers, NC. At Arrowmont you’ll get acquainted with equine behavior and riding tips during a 45-50 minute safety program via training video and/or live demonstration.
 
After the demo, snap on your helmet. Then you’re matched with a suitable horse, and try him out in the ring before setting off on your Flame/Fern Combo Trail, for your beautiful trail ride.
 
Plan at least 2 and a Half hours for your adventure. Trail Time is approximately 80 minutes plus your Safety Program.
