On the SCENIC VALLEY TRAIL ride you will leave the Stables, which is about 3800 ft elevation, for a magical journey through hardwood forests that descend into The picturesque SCENIC VALLEY down to 3400 ft elevation.  It's about 90 minutes long.

This is a beautiful valley filled with a small lake, flowing creeks, streams and open meadows.

As you meander through the valley, you will come upon the original site of the Nancy Brown cabin.  She was a widow who raised 12 children in the valley in the early 1890's.  

In fact, her children helped create the Nature Trail portion of the Scenic Valley trail.  

Now you will ride through a tunnel of rhododendron before ascending the mountain via Rough Run Stream.  It's the part that will go up the mountain following the babbling sounds of this gentle stream with mini cascading falls all the way up the hill.

Then you merge into the Fern Forest with its meandering trail back to the Stables at 3800ft of elevation. 

Be on the lookout for deer and wild turkey during your adventure, plus, enjoy listening to the birds sing!  

Plan at least 3 hours for your total experience. This includes the Safety Program and your Trail Time.

Meet your guide at Arrowmont Stables and Cabins on the northwest end of Lake Glenville about a mile from the lake. It's only a 20-minute drive from Cashiers, NC. At this 200-acre (80-hectare) working horse farm you’ll get acquainted with equine behavior and riding tips during a 50-minute safety program via training video and/or live demonstration.
